Department of catering equipment manufactures
The manufacturers of capital goods for commercial kitchens, used in restaurants, hotels, casinos, hospitals, canteens, cafeterias, snack bars and many other mass caterers, are represented by the department of catering equipment manufactures in the HKI.
The variety of equipment provided by HKI members includes all products that belong to the installation and the operation of a complete catering facility:
- Large scale cooking appliances
- Convection ovens
- Stainless steel products (standard equipment, refrigeration and counter technique, food distribution systems, individual cafeteria systems)
- Professional coffee machines
- Ventilation systems (kitchen ventilation ceilings and kitchen ventilation hoods, UV-C systems, fire protection systems)
- Services, equipment, components (e.g. IT-systems, water treatment, fittings)
- Commercial dishwashers
The 80 members of the association commercial kitchen equipment have an annual turnover of about 4.7 billion EURO, which is characterized by different trends in the separate appliance groups. Both at home and abroad HKI members are valued as technological leaders. This is also shown by the strong export share of more than 50 %.
The HKI association for commercial kitchens cooperates with all relevant industry institutions on national and international level. On the European level the HKI is a founding member of EFCEM, the European association of manufacturers of commercial kitchens. EFCEM unites seven national associations which constantly handle the European problems of the industry. As an accepted professional dialogue partner of the EU commissions and associated authorities, EFCEM provides advice in professional topics
The HKI association supports the leading trade fairs in Germany like the Internorga in Hamburg, the Intergastra in Stuttgart, the ISS GUT! in Leipzig and the ANUGA in Cologne. Furthermore the HKI is engaged in the official foreign trade fair program of the Federal Republic of Germany
Every special department is able to provide a statistic about the transaction volume and quantity of sales for the sector of commercial kitchen equipment and heating and cooking appliances in the HKI. The collected data is summarized to ensure the privacy of the participating companies. By using the statistics, every member can determine it’s own position in the market and estimate it’s economic development in the general trend.
