NSF International is an independent and recognised organisation that develops standards and offers programmes for the certification and verification of commercial kitchen technology. Participants include health authorities, companies and professional planners. Commercial kitchen technology with the NSF mark is accepted by authorities in North America and has improved recognition worldwide.

HKI members benefit through a partnership with NSF International. Working closely with NSF specialists, this partnership provides assistance in applying the hygiene standards and certification programmes. Assistance in understanding the requirements and benefits in certifying new products are also offered. 

Other services include reduced fees for workshops and pre-testing of new machinery and prototypes for compliance with NSF standards.
