The requirements from Brussels dominate national legislation within the EU in many areas.
Within the EU, national legislation in certain areas has moved more and more into the background over the decades. This is particularly true for issues that do not stop at national borders, such as the environment and climate, but also for many things that have to do with the free movement of goods or data protection. The framework requirements mostly come from Brussels. Nationally, often only nuances are possible.
This is why Brussels plays such a central role in representing the interests of our member companies. And that is why the HKI has operated its own office in Brussels since 2009.
