It deals with aspects of health care, durability and energy saving as well as environmental protection as so-called "basic work requirements (BWR)".
The Regulation lays down the criteria for the CE marking of construction products and the obligation to draw up a declaration of performance in relation to the essential characteristics of the construction product as the basis for CE marking. It defines the role and responsibilities of manufacturers, distributors, importers, technical assessment bodies, market surveillance and Member States' authorities with regard to the application of this EU Regulation.
The basic requirements for construction works under the Construction Products Regulation are, among other things, the basis for standards and harmonised technical specifications.
Construction Products Ordinance and residential heating appliances
Residential heating appliances are considered construction products and therefore fall under the Construction Products Ordinance and its requirements. With mandate M/577 of the European Commission, CEN/TC 295 "Residential solid fuel burning appliances" is charged with revising the standards for heating and cooking appliances burning solid fuels. The mandate stipulates the essential characteristics for the declaration of performance in accordance with the Construction Products Ordinance for the appliances.
