The issue of material efficiency is a building block of the circular economy. The topic of material efficiency takes into account various aspects such as the durability, reparability, reusability or recyclability of appliances. These points are intended to help ensure that products are designed in such a way that they can be used for longer and, where possible, materials and components that are built into the devices can be reused. The aim is to use the earth's limited natural resources as sparingly as possible.

The HKI Association is currently developing practical approaches as to how the topics of material efficiency can bei sensibly implemented and communicated for the appliance groups of HKI members.
